Direct observation of the isomerization of aliphatic peroxy radicals

Article published in Angewandte Chemie (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201907981)
Organic peroxy radicals are short-lived chemical intermediates formed by the oxidation of organic compounds (combustion, atmospheric chemistry, metabolisms …) very difficult to observe directly. A mass spectrometry technique, developed at IRCELYON for their direct and individual observation (specified), enabled the first observation of the isomerization (autoxidation) of aliphatic peroxy radicals at room temperature.
