David Farrusseng Honored with the Grand Prix Pierre Süe 2026
The Société Chimique de France (SCF) has awarded the Grand Prix Pierre Süe 2026 to David Farrusseng, a researcher from our Ircelyon Institute (CNRS/Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1). This prestigious recognition celebrates his internationally acclaimed research work in chemistry, particularly in the field of catalysis.
This prize, which has previously honored distinguished researchers from our institute such as Claude Mirodatos (2014), Jacques Védrine (2001), or Claude Naccache (1991), highlights the scientific excellence of David Farrusseng. For him, this award is above all « the reflection of a collective adventure », where each discovery is the result of teamwork, a shared passion, and unwavering commitment to science.
But David has already won several awards! In 2008, the SCF Catalysis division honored him with the DivCat Young Researcher Prize, for his pioneering contributions to high-throughput catalysis, and in 2024, he was named Distinguished Member of the SCF. In 2016, he received the prestigious price of the International Association of Catalysis (IACS) for his major contributions to the application of porous materials, and particularly Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs), in catalysis. And in 2020, he was awarded the CNRS Silver Medal for his outstanding contributions to chemistry, particularly on nanoporous materials and their applications. An impressive list of achievements for our colleague, leader of the ING team!
This award is also an opportunity to highlight his key role in organizing the ICC 2024 Conference in Lyon, a major event for the international scientific community, and following which, David took over the presidency of IACS (2024-2028).
