VALOTHERBIO Thematic School

The GDR Thermobio is organising the VALOTHERBIO thematic school from 6 to 10 October 2025 at the Villa Clythia in Fréjus. For its second edition on the Thermochemical Valorisation of Biomass and Waste: Characterisation, Processes and Chains, the thematic school will focus on five areas: resources, their composition, valorisation chains, conversion mechanisms and product characterisation (biochar, bio-oil and gas), reactors and processes, and industrial prospects. The speakers are all academics, engineers and researchers from CIRAD, CEA, IFPEN, IMT, the University and also the CNRS. Tutorials will also be organised to reflect on certain aspects covered during the lessons, and presentations by industry players will further enrich the programme.
As a reminder: “The aim of this school is to train young researchers as well as researchers/engineers who are new to this field, enabling them to acquire and/or strengthen the skills needed to become knowledgeable players in this area of research. The scientific objectives of this school are to provide both theoretical and applied foundations covering the entire chain of biomass and biogenic or synthetic waste recovery, from analysing the availability and characteristics of resources to recovery processes for their conversion into products of interest and/or energy carriers, including analysis of the environmental and societal impact of the processes.”
You will find all the information you need to participate in this school here.
